Christmas Tree in the City, a heavily detailed water color painting on a 15″ x 20″ water color paper was my 8th painting, done over a two-year period. Inspired by the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Tree in New York City, I started the painting during the holiday season and put the final touches on it the following year. This painting was submitted to and selected by Unicef for their greeting card collection in 1982, then again in 1983, and 1984. In 1989, the artwork was once again used for the prestigious collection and sold more than 3 million cards around the world, raising over a quarter million dollars for Unicef. I was appointed “honorary goodwill ambassador” and spoke on behalf of Unicef and the charitable work they do in third world countries.
